Predator vs scavenger

Description

Was tyrannosaurus a hunter? Was tyrannosaurus a scavenger?

To me, it doesn't really matter. I know Jack Horner (and I'm sure others) have gotten a lot of backlash for even suggesting that tyrannosaurus was a scavenger.

But here's the thing. Does it really matter? Is it really so degrading for tyrannosaurus to scavenge carcasses? The answer is no. Some people might care about "hunting vs scavenging", but the tyrannosaurus did not. It did what it could to survive.

Most predators today both hunt and scavenge. There's very few that do exclusively hunting. There's evidence that points towards the idea that tyrannosaurus did both (which is the realistic view). There's a suggestion that young tyrannosauruses hunted while the eldest ones scavenged. I don't mind that view.

All in all, it's still tyrannosaurus regardless if it was mostly a hunter or mostly a scavenger. And before you complain about being a scavenger makes tyrannosaurus less scary and wimpy, keep in mind that this animal could still move faster than you and it still has bone crushing jaws and a powerful sense of smell. This 'wimpy scavenger' could easily kill if it needed to.

The scavenger theory should be put to rest anyways. We have evidence T. rex attacked live prey.
